The Unseen Woman

As I’ve moved through life, I’ve become acutely aware of how women, particularly as we age, begin to fade into the background of society’s gaze. The Unseen Woman is a deeply personal response to this experience, drawing from my own reflections and observations.

This sheer, ghostly figure embodies the growing invisibility older women often face, their presence acknowledged less and less despite the wealth of wisdom and lived experience they carry. She stands at the intersection of belonging and longing—a silent yet powerful reminder of the yearning to remain visible, valued, and connected.

Creating this piece allowed me to give form to these emotions, confronting the discomfort of invisibility while inviting viewers to reflect on how they perceive and include women at all stages of life. Through her, I hope to foster empathy and spark conversations about the importance of truly seeing one another.
